While the St. Vital Museum does our best to keep a rotating selection of exhibits, both of new aquisitions and those already in our collection, the St. Vital Museum houses over 3,000 pieces and not everything can be displayed.

Olympians Sami Jo Small and husband Billy Bridges check out her photo board at the St. Vital Museum. Goaltender Sami Jo, a five-time world champion, won Olympic gold in 2002 and 2006. She played her minor hockey on boys’ teams at Norberry, Windsor and Glenwood Community Centres before moving to the St. Vital Victorias of the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League. In 1998, she earned a track scholarship to Stanford University. Billy, a forward on Canada’s sledge hockey team, won gold in the 2006 Paralympics in Torino, Italy.

Music

St. Vital has a long and prestigeous history of having famous, and infamous, musicians from the community. St. Vital Museum is proud to have the full collection of Jim Kale’s gold records with the Guess Who as well as his Maple Leaf Awards (forerunner to the Junos).
